Take the leap!

Looking for a great career opportunity with an incredible supportive happy team?

We are an independent small animal and equine practice in Gods own County! A beautiful part of north Yorkshire on the edge of the Castle Howard estate and the Howardian Hills.

A broad loyal client base full of characters and their wonderful pets and horses.

– Small Animal and Equine Veterinary Surgeon
– Equine Veterinary Surgeon

– A small animal vet (ideally equine too) to help with expanding the client base. This position could suit a new graduate.
– An equine vet (to take the place of a colleague who is sadly leaving after 9 years with us).

We have a supportive network for both roles.

Part time is not a problem at all; we are after someone who will enjoy the job, the team and the life here.

The nitty gritty

  • The salary will depend on the role and experience but will be generous in this competitive market, and regularly readdressed.
  • There are partnership prospects for the right individual.
  • The rota is shared equally between all the vets, with a set weekday night each week which helps with home life planning, and one weekend a month.  We are hoping new staffing levels will decrease this to one in 5 at least, but we do like to keep our “out of hours” in-house.
  • CPD is actively supported and is paid and time off given to complete it.
  • Holidays are vital and we currently give 5 weeks and bank holidays.
  • Mileage is currently paid at 55p per mile with plans for a practice vehicle next year.
  • Accommodation and paddocks will be available at the practice shortly, and we bring our dogs to work.  (Unless they are as unruly as Clare’s!)

– Veterinary Nurse

A very varied role from admitting & discharging patients to preparing patients for surgery and after-care. From nurse lead consults & triaging by phone, running clinical pathology, placing nerve bocks, suture wounds and administering chemotherapy to biosecurity. The role of a vet nurse at Station House Vets is extremely varied and no two days are the same.

If you have an interest in nutrition, behaviour and/or rehab this would all be supported.

You will work as part of our excellent friendly team, along with our vets and visiting orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeons, a specialist sonographer, physiotherapist and acupuncture.

If you have an interest in horses you can be involved in our equine work, but it would not be expected.

Excellent progression and development opportunities; regular inhouse training by way of clinical meetings and in-house CPD led by visiting or virtual experts.

The nitty gritty

  • The salary is up to £26,000 pa which is regularly assessed.
  • Out of hours is paid at double your hourly rate plus mileage allowance at 55p a mile and an on call ‘retainer’ is paid for every day and night on call.
  • Good work/life balance with a flexible weekend rota.
  • Generous holiday allowance. (5 weeks pro rata inclusive of public holidays)
  • Paid CPD and Professional fees (VDS, RCVS, BVNA/BSAVA)
  • Pension contribution
  • Discounted veterinary fees.
  • Gift vouchers as team rewards for hard work or busy months.
  • A real coffee machine – and it really is good!

– Receptionist/Client care team member

We are looking for a client care team member to join our fantastic friendly team.

Have you a passion for animals? Are you a dedicated pet or horse owner?  Have you got a background in a customer facing role, such as hospitality or retail? Can you mutli-task and remain calm under pressure? If yes, this may just be the role for you!

We are a busy and friendly independently run vet clinic for both pets and horses located in a beautiful spot just off the A64 at Welburn.

As a member of the client care team you are the first point of contact for our lovely client base which involves taking phone calls, making appointments, taking payments, scheduling consultations and visits, entering test results, managing demanding vets and greeting our clients and pets. The role is jolly busy and an integral part of the running of our veterinary practice.

You will need to be resourceful, perceptive and proactive. You will be a confident and empathetic communicator, highly efficient, with a great attention to detail to provide the high standards of care and the personal touch we give our clients.

We will train you in taking calls, using the practice management software, basic triage of emergencies and healthcare advice, the principles of pharmacy management and dispensing and will allow you to cuddle lots of puppies!

You will be joining a team who are passionate about their work in optimising the health and lives of the animals we treat.

This is a part time role with start times from 8am and finish time up to 6.30/7pm as well as a one in 4 Saturday morning rota.  Flexibility to provide additional cover for holidays is also required.

The nitty gritty :

  • Generous holiday allowance
  • Pension contribution
  • Discounted veterinary fees
  • Gift vouchers as team rewards for hard work or busy months
  • A real coffee machine – and it is really good!
