Repeat Prescription Check
Find out more about repeat prescription checks – why, when, how often and what happens.
Why do I need a repeat prescription check?
Repeat prescription checks allow our vets to ensure your pet is on the best treatment plan at the correct dosage for them. It is a requirement from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons that pets are seen regularly for further repeat medication to be dispensed.
What happens during a repeat prescription check?
One of our vets will discuss how your pet has been getting on over the past few months, if there are any difficulties taking medication, or if your pet is experiencing any side effects.
We will also carry out a clinical examination, check your pet’s weight and may require further monitoring tests such as blood pressure monitoring or checking blood or urine samples.
How often does my pet need to be seen for a recheck?
Your pet needs to be seen every 3 months for ongoing medications.
For any new illnesses or injuries, or shorter-term medications such as antibiotics, they would require a separate visit each time they become unwell.
