Cytopoint

Cytopoint (lokivetmab) is a monthly injection used in the management of canine pruritus (itchiness).

How does Cytopoint work?

It is a monoclonal antibody that blocks interleukin 31 (IL-31), ultimately limiting itching caused by canine atopic dermatitis and providing relief to your dog. It is administered by one of our vets or nurses as an injection under the skin (just like your dog’s vaccines).

Is Cytopoint right for my dog?

Our vets discuss each dog on an individual basis. There are several different treatment options for atopic dermatitis, and we consider each dog’s age, lifestyle, other health conditions and willingness to take medicines in feed or attend the clinic, before deciding on a treatment plan. Along with any other conditions or secondary skin infections they may have.

How soon will I see a difference?

When starting treatment, a response would be expected within the first 2 injections. Cytopoint can take effect in as little as 8 hours from injection, with results lasting for up to a month.
