Protecting your dog with essential vaccinations

Vaccination is one of the most important parts of keeping your dog healthy. At Station House Vets, we offer tailored vaccination programmes designed to protect your dog from serious and potentially life-threatening diseases. We follow current UK guidelines to ensure your dog receives safe, effective protection throughout their life.

What are the core dog vaccinations?

DHP (Distemper, Hepatitis & Parvovirus)

This combined vaccine protects against three highly contagious and dangerous diseases:

  • Canine Distemper – a serious viral disease affecting the respiratory, digestive and nervous systems
  • Infections Canine Hepatatitis : A viral infection that damages the liver and kidneys
  • Canine Parvovirus : A highly contagious virus causing severe vomiting and diarrhoea, especially dangerous in puppies

This vaccine forms the backbone of your dog’s core protection

Leptospirosis (L4)

Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease spread through infected urine, contaminated water, and wildlife. It can be life-threatening and can also be passed to humans. The L4 vaccine protects against four strains of Leptospira, offering broader protection than older vaccines.
This is an annual vaccination and is essential for dogs that:
  • walk near rivers, lakes or canals
  • come into contact with wildlife
  • live in rural or semi-rural areas

Kennel Cough Vaccination

Kennel cough is a highly contagious respiratory infection that causes a persistent, harsh cough. It spreads easily wherever dogs mix, including kennels, grooming salons, training classes and dog parks.

At Station House Vets, we offer both the traditional and the new injectable kennel cough vaccines.

Benefits of the new injectable cough vaccine are:

  • suitable for dogs that don’t tolerate nasal drops
  • easy and quick to administer
  • helps protect against key bacterial causes of kennel cough
  • useful for nervous dogs
  • ideal for dogs with sensitive airways

Our vets will advise whether the nasal or injectable version is most appropriate for your dog’s lifestyle and risk level.
