Whatever the problem with your horse or pony one of our friendly equine vets will perform an initial equine veterinary consultation either here at the practice, or at your home or livery yard.

Consultations can be a whole range of things – from vaccinations, blood samples, wounds through to urgent or emergencies.

Urgent or emergency consultations during our normal practice hours are charged at the standard rate.  Out of hours the pricing is different. You can find out more about our emergency out of hours consultations here

Equine veterinary consultations at the practice

If the equine veterinary consultation is here at the practice you will just pay the consultation fee plus any additional charges based on the examination and findings for services and/or products.

Equine veterinary consultations at your home / livery yard – ‘ a visit’

For equine veterinary consultations at your home or livery yard, a visit fee is charged to cover our time and mileage. Visit fee discounts are given for pre-arranged visits if we can combine several in a round. Single yard visits of five or more patients organised in advance are free of charge.

Follow up consultations

Should you need a follow up consultation there are a few options.

Follow up physical consultations  – at the practice or at your home/yard – will be charged in the normal way.

Follow up phone consultations and e-mail or WhatsApp consults may be charged if they involve considerable time. If there is a charge for these we will advise you.

Planned equine veterinary consultations

Equine veterinary consultations that can be planned in advance are the most cost effective for you and for us, from an organisational, planning and financial perspective. It can also help us be more environmentally friendly by organising our route for the day to be the most fuel efficient too.

As we hold the Investors In the Environment Bronze award we do everything we can to help reduce our environmental impact.

What if it is a more complex case

As an independent first opinion general practice, we are able to refer more complex cases to any second opinion referral practice you prefer to use, all over the country, allowing you access to the best available care for your horse. We will work with you and them to coordinate the handover and follow up care as necessary.
