Zycortal

Find out more about Zycortal.

What is Zycortal?

Zycortal is an injectable corticosteroid that forms part of a treatment plan for dog’s with hypoadrenocorticism (Addison’s disease).

How does Zycortal work?

Zycortal replaces the mineralocorticoids that dogs with Addison’s are deficient in. It will likely be used alongside oral medications (which replace the glucocorticoids). One of our vets will discuss treatments with you, if your dog is diagnosed as Addisonian. It is administered by one of our vets as an injection under the skin (just like your dog’s vaccines).

How often does my dog require Zycortal?

Once diagnosed, most dogs will have a zycortal injection approximately every 4 weeks. It is a lifelong treatment for Addison’s disease.
