Dog Friendly Clinic
Station House Vets are now a Dog Friendly Clinic
Being a Dog Friendly Clinic shows our commitment to giving your dog the best experience possible when visiting the vets. We are proud to hold this status.
We already did much of what is required anyway – but having the accreditation just formalises what we do – and also adds kudos.
What is the Dog Friendly Clinic Scheme?
The Dog Friendly Clinic scheme is an exciting collaboration between Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest canine welfare charity, and the British Veterinary Behaviour Association (BVBA)

What does Dog Friendly Clinic mean?
Being a Dog Friendly Clinic shows our commitment to giving your dog the best experience possible when visiting the vets.
We train all of our team members to understand canine behaviour and low stress handling techniques to ensure that our patients are looked after in every aspect of their wellbeing.
By responding to your dog’s body language – we want them to look and feel relaxed at all times
Handling your dog compassionately – from calming waiting areas to gentle handling and encouragement – and of course plenty of treats!
Making changes to our clinic to help your dog feel comfortable – we have separate dog and cat waiting areas; we can see you and your dogs in and out of quieter entrances; and we can offer consults outside in the garden.
Advising on effective behaviour and training support – we offer puppy parties for you and your new additions and will work with you to find suitable behaviourists if needed
We want to create a welcome space where both you and your dog feel comfortable and cared for.

Our facilities as a Dog Friendly Clinic
- A dog specific waiting area; we also encourage clients with anxious dogs to wait in our wonderful large garden or we can meet you at the car – whichever is best for your dog
- A quieter consult room with a separate entrance
- Consults outside in the garden if appropriate
- A range of treats available for dogs where feeding is appropriate.
- Dog only kennels
- Range of kennel sizes including walk in kennels, all with soft beddings and orthopaedic padding available
- Non slip floors and weighing scales
- Enrichment plans for hospitalised dogs
- We have nominated dog advocates within our team
