Hill’s digestive care for dogs

Digestive care

Hill’s GI Biome and I/d diets for dogs work by using their proprietary ActivBiome+ technology to rapidly nourish the gut microbiome, helping to improve stool quality and overall digestive health. This blend of prebiotic fibers promotes the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, which in turn helps produce beneficial compounds that support gut and immune health. The i/d (and Biome) formulas are also highly digestible and enriched with electrolytes and B vitamins to aid nutrient absorption and replace lost nutrients.

How the diet works:

ActivBiome+ Technology:

  • A proprietary blend of prebiotic fibers that are clinically proven to nourish the gut microbiome.

Microbiome nourishment:

  • The fibers are fermented by the gut’s beneficial bacteria, which produces short-chain fatty acids to nourish colon cells and other beneficial compounds.

Promotes beneficial bacteria:

  • It stimulates the growth of good bacteria to help restore balance in the gut ecosystem.

Supports digestive health:

  • This process leads to improved stool quality, reduces digestive upsets, and can help limit their recurrence.

Restores nutrients:

  • The food is enriched with electrolytes and B vitamins to replace nutrients that may be lost during digestive upset.

Supports immune system:

  • The diet is fortified with clinically proven antioxidants to help support a healthy immune system.

Highly digestible:

  • The ingredients are chosen for their high digestibility to make them easy on a dog’s system, with some formulas also having low fat content and increased electrolytes.

S+OX SHIELD:

  • Some formulas are specifically designed to promote a urinary environment that helps reduce the risk of developing struvite and calcium oxalate crystals.

Support for stress:

  • Hill’s Prescription Diet i/d Stress is formulated to help manage stress-related digestive upsets.

Important considerations

Veterinary recommendation: these are therapeutic foods that should only be fed under the guidance of a vet, who will determine the specific diet and feeding plan for your dog.

Gradual transition : when switching to a new food, it is recommended to do so slowly over 7–10 days to avoid gastrointestinal upset.

Long term use suitability : many Prescription Diet products are suitable for long-term feeding, but your vet will advise on the best approach for your dog’s individual needs.
